Insider's Edge:
Brooks Laich put up 94 points in 60 games in the juniors last season, but his path to the NHL could be cleared by one significant skill.
“ For a young kid, he’s extremely talented in the face-off circle,"one source stated.Binghamton's bench boss apparently has plenty of confidence in Brooks' ability come crunch time.
"Coach [John] Paddock doesn't hesitate to use him in critical late game situations.”
Insider's Edge:
Aaron Johnson’s strengths are the ability to move the puck out of the zone and join the rush.
“He’s a good, puck moving, offensive defenseman,” said one source. “There are concerns that he would be responsible defensively, so far so good on that.”
Johnson is still young, and the word is the Canucks are going to take their time in developing him. Nonetheless, his strong skills on offense cannot be ignored for too long.
“In that position, the offensive side usually takes some time to develop and he already has it as a young kid.”
Insider's Edge:
Mark Cullen is a 2nd year pro out of Colorado College that wins face offs, can kill penalties, and scored 22 goals as a rookie in the AHL last season.
One source raved about Cullen’s intensity on the ice.
“He plays with a reckless abandon, and at 5'11" 175 lbs., he may need to think of his mortality and longevity.”
“He’s hungry and just works his butt off on every shift.”
Mark has some scoring touch, can do all the little things, and could be a good 3rd or 4th line grinder in the NHL.
