Evengi Artukhin

Drafted:
Tampa Bay Lightning, 3rd-round selection (94th overall) in 2001.

Player No. 43 Profile:

Name:
Evengi Artukhin
[ar-TWO-kin]

Team:
Hershey Bears

League: AHL

Position:
Left Wing

Hometown:
Moscow, Russia

Height: 6'5"

Weight: 230 lbs.

Birth Date:
04/04/83

Insider's Edge:

At 6'5", and 230 lbs, Evengi Artukhin isn't just a Left Wing: He's a Russian mountain. Like a mountain, he plays an uneven, very physical game.

“He has size and skating ability,” states one source, “but he’s very raw.”

Those working with Artukhin believe that he has the time iron out the deficiencies in his game. If his size doesn't give him a hall pass to the NHL, perhaps the NFL should come calling. Anyone know how to translate "middle line backer" into Russian?

“There are elements of his game he needs to work on, but he’s young.”

Lukas Krajicek

Drafted:
Florida Panthers, 1st-round selection (24th overall) in 2001.

Player No. 44 Profile:

Name:
Lukas Krajicek

Team:
San Antonio Rampage

League: AHL

Position:
Defenseman

Hometown:
Prostejov,
Czech Republic

Height: 6'2"

Weight: 185 lbs.

Birth Date:
03/11/83

Insider’s Edge:

In the diamond-in-the-rough department, Lukas Krajicek is described as another “raw talent."

“He’s not a stay at home defenseman. He’s got size and great skating ability.”

Krajicek enters his first pro season after tallying 53 points in 52 junior hockey games last year. His placement at the AAA level from juniors is a big vote of confidence for this young man's future.

Rickard Wallin

Drafted:
Phoenix Coyotes, 8th-round selection (160th overall) in 1998.

Acquired: Traded to Minnesota by Phoenix for Joe Juneau, June 23, 2000.

Player No. 45 Profile:

Name:
Rickard Wallin

Team:
Houston Aeros

League: AHL

Position:
Center

Hometown:
Stockholm, Sweden

Height: 6'2"

Weight: 185 lbs.

Birth Date:
04/19/80

Insider's Edge:

Riccard Wallin is a smart player with good size. He excelled in the Swedish Elite League before entering the AHL last season.

“He has great vision on the ice,” said one source. “He possesses great hands and has worked hard to become a good skater.”

Wallin continues to make a good adjustment to the North American game and could be contributing to the Wild in the near future.
