Insider’s Edge:
Justin Mapletoft is a good two-way player that has good hockey sense and is talented with the puck.
At the time of his October recall to the Islanders, Mapletoft was riding an eight game scoring streak, while leading the Sound Tigers with six assists and tied for the team’s overall scoring lead with ten points.
Rookie bench boss Steve Stirling also coached Mapletoft in Bridgeport, prior to taking the Islanders’ job.
Stirling apparently likes what Justin brings to the ice, and could keep him on the New York roster for some time.
